Fresh Start: My Favourite Baby & Toddler-Friendly Places in Tunbridge Wells

September always feels like a bit of a fresh start.

After the summer holidays, later evenings, days out and naps happening wherever they can, you might be feeling ready to get back into a rhythm.

But getting back into a routine doesn't mean staying at home and watching the clock.

As a mum, I've found that having a few places I love to go with my son actually helps give our week some structure, and they're places where we can enjoy ourselves while still working around his sleep.

So, if you're looking for some inspiration for things to do with your baby or toddler in Tunbridge Wells, here are a few of my personal favourites.

Kidsbury: play, coffee and a calmer kind of outing

Kidsbury Roleplay Villages is one of my favourite places to go with my son.

It's an indoor role-play village in the heart of Tunbridge Wells, aimed at children aged 1–7, with a café for parents too. Kidsbury describes its environment as intentionally calmer than a traditional indoor play centre, with soft lighting and chilled music.

I love it because it gives little ones plenty to explore, and their reusable cups mean you actually enjoy a hot coffee while they play. It’s also got a brilliant baby and toddler friendly bathroom, with nappies available if like I sometimes did, you forget the essentials after a bad night!

It's also a great option as the weather is starting to get a bit more unpredictable!

If you're trying to establish a rhythm with a toddler, you could make something like this part of a regular morning:

Breakfast → Kidsbury → lunch → nap/quiet time → afternoon at home

Claudia’s: a warm welcome and great coffee, plus soft play

Claudia’s Soft Play at Oakley Fitness is another personal favourite.

It's a lovely little soft play and café in Tunbridge Wells, particularly suited to younger children. There's a separate area for babies, as well as the main soft play, and it's a really friendly, welcoming space.

For me, that's what makes places like Claudia's so valuable when you're trying to find your rhythm again. You can have a good coffee, your little one gets to play, and you're still getting out of the house rather than feeling like you're constantly having to choose between sleep and having a life.

It's also a great example of how a routine doesn't have to mean staying at home for every nap, we often nap in the pram on the walk home.

Sometimes it's about knowing your child, understanding their sleep needs and choosing outings that work with your routine.

A coffee, a chat with a friend and getting out of the house can be enough to make the day feel different.

And for parents working on sleep, these little outings can be a lovely reminder that a routine doesn't have to mean being stuck at home.

Ruby's: because sometimes you just need cake!

Ruby's of London - Tunbridge Wells is one for the cake lovers.

Sometimes getting back into a rhythm is less about creating the perfect schedule and more about enjoying the little things that make family life feel good.

A coffee and cake stop can be a lovely way to break up a walk or an afternoon out, and personally, I'm always happy to have an excuse for cake!

Yoga by Margarita: something for you and your baby

Yoga by Margarita is another local favourite and I absolutely loved my weekly classes when my son was little.

Margarita currently offers Mum & Baby Yoga in Tunbridge Wells for babies from around six weeks until crawling, as well as Dad & Baby Yoga - which my husband also enjoyed!

I love the idea of this as part of a weekly rhythm because it isn't just another activity for your baby, it's something for you too. It’s such a lovely way to meet other new mums and build genuine friendships.

Having something regular in the diary can be such a positive way to create some structure around your week, while also getting out, meeting other parents and doing something that feels good.

Monkey Music: a lovely weekly anchor

Monkey Music Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks is another activity I've enjoyed doing with my son, and still going strong!

Their local classes are designed specifically for babies and young children, with age-grouped sessions involving singing, dancing, instruments and interaction between children and their carers. They currently offer a complimentary first class for new families.

I particularly like regular activities like this when you're trying to find your rhythm again.

A weekly class gives you somewhere to be, something to look forward to and a gentle reason to get everyone dressed and out of the house!

Fresh air and daylight matter too

Of course, not every outing needs to be an organised activity. One of our favourite places to head is St John’s Park. Sometimes a walk, some time outside and a bit of fresh air is all we need.

Getting outside during the day is something I really value when it comes to sleep, too. Natural daylight helps support your little one's body clock, while fresh air and movement can be a lovely part of a balanced day.

For babies, this might be as simple as a morning walk with the pram. For toddlers, it could be running around the park, exploring or having a play before heading home for lunch and a nap.

It doesn't have to be complicated. Sometimes the simplest part of your day can be the thing that helps everyone feel a little more settled.

Finding your rhythm doesn't mean being rigid

One of the things I really want parents to know is that getting back into a routine doesn't mean that every nap has to happen at home, at exactly the same time, every single day.

Real family life doesn't work like that.

Sometimes your baby will nap in the pram.

Sometimes you'll be home for a nap.

Sometimes you'll stay out for lunch because you're having such a lovely time.

And sometimes your toddler will completely refuse the nap you carefully planned your whole day around!

That's okay.

The goal is to find a rhythm that supports your family, rather than a routine that makes you feel like you're constantly failing.

A fresh start can be really simple

If the summer has left your child's sleep feeling a little unsettled, you don't necessarily need to overhaul everything.

You could start with just one or two anchors:

  • A consistent morning wake-up

  • Getting outside each morning

  • A regular weekly activity

  • More predictable meal times

  • A familiar bedtime routine

  • Getting back to a consistent nap rhythm

And then build from there.

For me, having a few places I love going with my son is part of that rhythm. It means we're getting out, having fun and enjoying our local community, while still giving our days some structure.

Because finding your rhythm doesn't have to mean giving up your life.

It can actually be about finding a way to make sleep and family life work together.

Need help finding your family's rhythm?

If your baby's or toddler's sleep has become unsettled and you're not sure where to start, you don't have to figure it all out on your own.

I support families with babies and toddlers from 5 months to 4 years, helping you understand what's happening with your child's sleep and create a realistic plan that works for your family.

Sometimes a fresh start is all you need to find your rhythm again.
